Traffic growth continues at Göteborg Landvetter Airport

The number of passengers travelling to and from Göteborg Landvetter Airport in October 2011 increased by 9 per cent compared to the same period in 2010. Domestic traffic had an increase of 19 per cent while international traffic was up 5 per cent.

In October, 443,016 people travelled to or from Göteborg Landvetter Airport, an increase of 9 per cent compared to  2010. Of these, 313,762 travelled internationally, a 5 per cent increase, while domestic traffic rose 19 per cent to 129,254.

Overall, the number of passengers so far this year has increased 20 per cent, with Göteborg Landvetter Airport thus passing the 4-million mark in passenger numbers. From January to October, 4,130,201 people travelled to and from Sweden’s second largest airport. The number of passengers who travelled within the country’s borders during the first ten months of the year was 1,054,616, an increase of 25 per cent compared with the preceding year. So far this year, international passengers have increased 18 per cent to 3,075,585.

“In spite of concerns around the world, Göteborg Landvetter Airport continues to grow in passenger numbers. We have a strong position as western Sweden’s international airport, but the importance of domestic travel to and from our region is clear,” says Annika Hilmersson, Head of Information at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.

The number of landings at Göteborg Landvetter Airport in October was 3,182, an increase of 7 per cent compared to the same month in 2010.
