The number of passengers at Göteborg Landvetter Airport continues to rise. In January 2012, total air traffic was up nine per cent compared to the same period in 2011. The growth is mainly in travel in Sweden. Domestic traffic increased by 21 per cent, while international traffic rose five per cent.

Charlotte Ljunggren has been named the new airport director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Ms Ljunggren has worked most recently at Stena Line and has extensive experience in the transport and travel service industry and in creating positive customer experiences.

Today it was announced that 55 airports in Europe are now part of the Airport Carbon Accreditation voluntary initiative, an increase of 12 airports. Göteborg Landvetter Airport has been involved since its inception in 2009 and as a result has reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 293 tonnes.

2011 was a record year for Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Never before have so many passengers flown to and from the airport in a single year. With close to 775,000 more passengers in 2011 compared to 2010, the total number of passengers was 4,906,556 – an increase of 19 per cent compared to the previous year.

What started out as a bright idea and the winning entry in a company competition will now become reality. Work is currently underway to install 500 square metres of solar panels on the facade of Göteborg Landvetter Airport’s newest multi-storey car park. The solar panels are one of many steps in the airport’s efforts to achieve Swedavia’s target of zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2020.

Some 480,850 passengers flew to and from Göteborg Landvetter Airport in September 2011, an increase of 17 per cent compared to the same month in 2010. International traffic increased by 16 per cent while domestic traffic increased by 20 per cent.
