Kiruna Airport is one of ten airports today that the Swedish state gives priority to as part of its national basic airport infrastructure. Kiruna Airport serves about 200,000 passengers a year. The airport is located in the Municipality of Kiruna, some ten minutes by car from the city centre. Kiruna is Sweden’s northernmost and largest municipality in terms of surface area. Together with the neighbouring municipalities of Gällivare, Jokkmokk and Pajala, we have a total population of about 70,000 residents within two hours’ travel time to/from the airport.
