Luleå Airport is located in the municipality of Luleå only 7 km from the city centre. With over 1 million passengers a year, the Airport provides air travel services to ten of the 14 municipalities in Norrbotten. Luleå Airport is the fifth largest airport in Sweden in passenger numbers. Out of a total of 1,100 people working at the Airport, 75 are employed by Swedavia and 900 by the Swedish Ministry of Defence.
