Waste

At Malmö Airport, Swedavia has a recycling centre open to all companies operating within the airport area, where they can deposit their waste. At the recycling centre, refuse is sorted into about 10 different categories. As a result, a higher degree of waste sorting has been achieved for all types of waste, while transport to, from and within the airport has been reduced and the handling of hazardous waste has been improved.

A large proportion of all the waste generated constitutes a resource that can be reused, recycled or recovered via energy generation. Hazardous waste is handled separately to ensure that dangerous substances are not spread.
