Since starting operations at Malmö Airport in 2004, Wizz Air has flown more than 1,000,000 passengers in and out of our airport.
This milestone has been celebrated at Malmö Airport for about two weeks and on July 1st the millionth passenger arrived in Malmö from Budapest and was greeted with flowers, chocolates and a voucher for two return tickets to any of the Wizz Air destinations from Malmö Airport – Belgrade, Budapest, Gdansk, Katowice or Warsaw.
Wizz Air is a strong brand in southern Scandinavia and statistics show that Wizz Air attracts more than 50 percent of all traffic from CPH and MMX to the 5 destinations mentioned above. The airline is also remarkable in that 10 percent of its passengers are Danes compared to only 2 percent on average for all flights from Malmö Airport. Finally, traffic statistics for Malmö Airport show that Wizz Air is the driving force behind the substantial increase in international traffic from our airport, 21% in June.
