LFV cuts its charges during 2009

2009-03-10
LFV is cutting its take-off and passenger charges from March 1, 2009. This will lower the prices that airlines pay during 2009 by about SEK 40 million.

“We foresee a sharply falling volume trend, and a majority of airlines are facing very large financial challenges. There are signals of sizeable capacity cutbacks. This is why it is urgent for LFV to provide all airlines with cost relief in order to aid the aviation industry,” says Lars Rekke, Director General of LFV, the State enterprise that operates Sweden’s major airports.

LFV is lowering charges at Stockholm-Arlanda, Stockholm-Bromma and Göteborg Landvetter Airports.

“Through these three airports, we reach essentially all our customers. Ninety-five per cent of passengers pass through these airports. The effect will thus be national and will indirectly benefit the entire system,” Mr Rekke says.

The price cut should be regarded as a discount. It is temporary and will apply until the end of the year.

In addition to cutting its airport charges, LFV is investing SEK 25 million this year in targeted marketing measures aimed at stimulating traffic growth. These initiatives are aimed at Swedish domestic air traffic and route development.

LFV lowered its airport charges most recently on November 1, 2008. Including the current price cut, LFV has lowered its charges by about SEK 350 million since 2004.
