Pilots’ strike Wednesday, June 16

2010-06-15

On Wednesday, June 16, some flights at Swedavia’s airports will be cancelled due to a pilots’ strike.

A major strike will be held on June 16 between 5.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. All Swedish Airline Pilots Association (SweALPA) members will then discontinue all pilot work at any airport or aviation school that has a collective agreement between the Swedish Air Transport Industry Employers’ Association and SweALPA.

This means that basically all domestic flights will be cancelled and that a significant portion of international flights will be affected. The following airlines will be affected:
SAS Stockholm base (non-intercontinental flights), Tui Fly Nordic, Malmö Aviation, West Air Sweden, City Airline, Norwegian.se, Nova Airlines, Next Jet, Amapola, Blue Chip Jet, Scandinavian Air Ambulance (Pajala-Luleå).

The regional airlines Avia Express, Avitrans, Direktflyg and Golden Air will suspend their flights all day Wednesday. Please note that some of these airlines will be operating flights under a different name, so it is even more important that passengers check their booking.

For current traffic information, see Arrivals and departures at this website.

For information about their own flight, passengers are advised to contact their airline.
