The number of passengers at LFV Airports was 10% down in August 2009 compared to August 2008. International numbers were down 11% and domestic 10%.
-Passenger numbers continue to drop at about the same rate as for June and July. Towards the end of the year we expect the rate to have slowed and will compare the traffic figures for the whole year with the weak ending of 2008 instead of the record figures experienced during the first half of that year, says Lennart Bergbom, Analyst at LFV Airport Marketing.
For the period January-August 2009 the total number of passengers at LFV Airports was down 13% compared with the same period in 2008. International passenger numbers were down 12% and domestic 15%
Stockholm-Bromma Airport recorded a three percent increase in passenger numbers in August this year compared with the same month last year. However both Stockholm-Arlanda and Göteborg Landvetter Airports recorded a drop in numbers for the same period, with the former by 11% and the latter 14%.
-When analysing traffic development per region for the months July and August we can see that domestic and European traffic has slowed down whilst traffic to other parts of the world is on the increase. This is, to a greater extent, due to newly opened services to Irak from Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, says Lennart Bergbom.
