The total number of passenger at LFV Airports during the month of November was 2.3 million, which is a small increase compared with the same month in 2008. Domestic increased by two percent to 1.1 million while international decreased by one percent to 1.2 million passengers.- We see a small increase in the number of passengers for November which is a clear sign that traffic development is stabilising. The greatest slump in traffic should be behind us, says Lennart Bergbom, Analyst at LFV Airport Marketing.
For the period January-November 2009 the number of passengers at LFV Airports decreased by 11% compared with the same period last year. The number of international passengers dropped by 11% and domestic by 12%.
The economic downturn has put pressure on the price of tickets and because of this many airlines have found themselves in financial difficulties. There are now signs that the economy is improving although it could still take time before we see a stable recovery in traffic. The reason for this is the airlines will probably be cautious to increase the number of flights as a greater choice of flight options would hinder a return to more normal prices, adds Lennart Bergbom.
Stockholm-Arlanda dropped by one percent and Göteborg Landvetter by four percent in November.
The number of scheduled and charter landings increased by one percent in November compared with the same month the previous year. International decreased by four percent whilst domestic increased by six percent. The accumulated number of landings for the period January-November 2009 was 180 600, down by 10%.
